What your government recommends
The Italy government has not published a number of days to be ready for (or we have not found one yet). See what other governments recommend.
Water: At least 1 litre per person per day (evacuation bag)[2]
Food: Keep stocks of water and food at home and an emergency kit. Besides your normal groceries, keep a good stock of drinking water in mineral-water bottles or jerrycans: drinking water is the most important item in an emergency, as the mains could be damaged or polluted. For a bag you take when leaving home: non-perishable food such as energy bars, dried fruit, salt, sugar, tea, coffee, and pre-cooked or freeze-dried food. No official number of days is given.[1][2][3]

Good to know
- โข Italy's official guidance does not set a number of days to be ready for; it says to keep stocks of water and food at home and an emergency kit.
- โข The 1 litre per day water figure is from an older (2012) guide and is for a bag you take if you must leave home.
- โข IT-alert currently covers only a few specific hazards (nuclear/radiological, major industrial accidents, dam collapse, certain volcanoes); for other emergencies follow radio, TV and your municipality.
- โข Find out what your municipality's civil protection plan says about danger zones, evacuation routes and waiting areas.
